Piglets in a Blanket (video instructions)

Servings: about 4

(16 mini pigs in a blanket)

Ingredients-

1 1/2 cups Flour

1/2 tsp Salt

1 packet Instant Dry Yeast

1 Tbs Sugar

3 Tbs Oil

1/2 stick Butter

1/4 cup warm Milk*

2 Tbs warm Water*

16 Lit’l Smokies or Mini Sausages

Ketchup for serving (optional)

Directions-

Start by adding the flour, salt, yeast, sugar, and oil into a medium sized bowl. Set this aside, then grab a flat surface on which you can use a sharp knife. Next you’ll need half a stick of butter. Place this on your work surface, then using a sharp knife, cut the butter into little cubes. Now let’s add the cubed butter into the bowl of ingredients. Mix together until well combined. Now use your fingers to rub the butter into the flour mixture. Do this until there are no more large butter cubes left.

Next pour the warm milk and water into the bowl, and knead until it forms a nice dough.

Next separate your dough into two even balls. Place one of the balls on your work surface then flatten it out using your hands or a rolling pin till you get a thin medium sized circle. Slice it into quarters, then into 8 triangles. Next place one mini sausage on the wider end of a triangle of dough and roll it up. Repeat until you’ve used all the dough or made 16 mini pigs in a blanket.

Ley them evenly on a greased cookie sheet, then into the oven for 16-17 minutes. They are done once the bottoms and tips look golden brown. Remove from the oven then let cool for about 5-10 minutes. Serve in a nice tray with toothpicks and ketchup if desired! Enjoy!

Notes-

  • The milk and water should be warm but not hot. You should be able to stick your finger into it without getting burned. But make sure to always be careful when heating ingredients as they can accidentally get too hot.
